Tuesday – Auckland (NZ) to Nadi (Fiji): a fond farewell to the Kiwis!

This morning we had an early start, as we had to catch the airport shuttle bus from the centre of the City by 9am to ensure we arrived in time for check in.

Our bags were packed, and surprisingly light after our recent ‘clear-outs’.  We checked in at the Air Pacific check in desk and went through to departures, spotting our plane on the stand.

We had an airport breakfast and went for a bit of last minute shopping in duty free.  A bottle of rum, and a few souvenirs later and we were boarding the flight, being greeted by possibly the most friendly flight crew either of us had ever met!

It was a smooth flight and also very quick, 3 hours after take off and we were on stand at Nadi International Airport.  As we walked off the plane into the Fijian humidity it felt strange to be back in a hot and humid country.  We were greeted by a Fijian band as we entered the terminal, all this before immigration even agreed to let us enter the country!

Once through we jumped in a taxi and drove to our accommodation in Newtown, a small beachside town by the airport.  We would be staying here one night, and catching the boat to the islands tomorrow.

Our room was nice, and more importantly had a fan, which we tried to stay near to to keep cool.

After dinner at a nearby restaurant we headed for bed, as we have to be up at 6:30am tomorrow.
