So, after 3 and a half months our final full day in the beautiful New Zealand had finally arrived!
Our first stop was the Auckland City Mission, to donate a couple more bags to charity…we are down-sizing you see! The clothes, books and shoes were gratefully received and we had officially done our good deed of the day.
Next stop was at ‘Ben’, a posh coffee shop along the trendy back streets of Auckland. Only after speaking to Tim and Emma last month did we find out about New Zealander’s love of good coffee. So, we figured on our last day we should treat ourselves to a cup of their finest…plus neither of us had ever seen a coffee shop called ‘Ben’ before!!
We left feeling fully caffeinated, and walked to Sky City’s Jade Dragon restaurant for a spot of lunch. Their Yum Char (Dim Sum) lunches are infamous in Auckland, so we figured a little treat would be well deserved. Plus this had been our lunch for 2 and a half months whilst travelling around Asia, and we missed it!
Delicious!
The rest of the afternoon was spent exchanging some Fijian dollars, and relaxing back at the apartment. We then put our glad-rags on for a farewell dinner and drinks down at the harbour.
We enjoyed a few ‘Happy Hour’ drinks at a harbour side bar, and then went to ‘Neptune’s’ restaurant for dinner. It was a delicious meal, and a fitting send off to a country we have both fallen in love with!
