We were picked up at the rather unsociable hour of 6:30am, after being up since 5am. We had booked a minivan to take us the 4 hour journey from Penang to Tanah Rata in the Cameron Highlands. As the journey began we realised, whilst crossing the longest bridge in Malaysia to the mainland that this ride was going to be quicker than we thought...as we had the 'death wish driver', whose average speed we dared to guess!
This speed proved okay on the straight motorway south, it was when we turned off this snaking up the tight switch backs into the highlands that things got interesting, especially when he decided to overtake on blind hair pin bends. So, to cut a long story short, we made it in one piece and were dropped off at our guesthouse earlier than scheduled.
The Fathers Guesthouse is a very picturesque place located on the edge of town, we were shown a couple of options of room, and decided to pay the 0.40pence extra to get a room with a view! So, our room is a bargain at 6.40 pounds per night for both of us, and apart from the hard bed we love our new digs!
We spent the afternoon exploring the very petite town of Tanah Rata and went for yet another Indian that night...which i think Ben loved as he had the extremely delicious tandoori chicken. Definitely a great country to get a good Indian!!
