Up and out early again to make the most of the cooler temperature! First though a trip to the post office (this time successfully) and our package of PADI books and used guidebooks is now bound for the UK, on the slow boat of course...3 months time and Mrs C Smith should be in receipt of an interesting box from Malaysia! Oh, and the diving DVD is in there so once you have watched it and been thoroughly amused by our sillyness can you post onwards to the Fenton clan so they can also enjoy the entertainment!
This morning we were bound for the Lake Gardens, a peaceful retreat a short walk from Chinatown, but once there it felt like you were a million miles from the frenetic market streets! We wandered past the Masjid Negara (national mosque), Kuala Lumpur train station, built in 1911 and now left quiet after KL central has taken most of its business. Next the impressive Malayan Railway Administration building, and then off to the gardens.
We visited the Taman Bunga Raya (hibiscus garden) and also the Taman Orkid (orchid garden)...and saw a family of monkeys swinging happily in the trees above. A pleasant walk around Tasik Perdana (premier lake) was lovely, but it was becoming hotter as the time crept towards the early afternoon - so we retreated to our hotel for a break before we head out tonight to see 'the Golden Triangle' in full illumination! (hence part 2!)
