So, as promised an early start awaited us this morning to ensure we got out before the sun got too high and too hot! By 7:30am we were out the door and walking to the metro station, grabbing some dim sum for breakfast on the way.
We got to KLCC station and walked the short distance to the bottom of the impressive structure that is Petronas Towers, as we stood in their shadow eating our meal we tried to take it all in. The queue was not too bad, and luckily we had listened to the guidebooks advice and got there early, after one hour they opened the doors and we snatched up 2 free tickets for a visit at 3:15pm.
As we had time to kill we walked across the 'Golden Triangle' to the KL tower, which after eyeing their impressive price list 'packages' we decided against going up today.
Back on the road again we walked to the area called Bukit Bintang where we mingled with hundreds of other tourists shopping for a bargain in the huge selection of shops and malls that lined the streets there. We decided to make the most of the air conditioning and linger in the Times Square mall for a couple of hours. After wandering around we found the huge indoor themepark, complete with rollarcoaster and rides; and folks i'm afraid to say we succumbed to a western food hit and had a Mcdonalds value lunch...not bad for 1 pound 50 pence!!
Later that afternoon we walked back to the Petronas towers to wait for our chance to ascend to the bridge, not before watching the captivating 3D film on the history of the Petronas company! After our 7 minute brainwashing, we were both convinced they were the best petroleum company in the world and ready to ride the lift to the 41st floor.
The views were fantastic (if a little hazy), and the double decker bridge that connected the twin towers impressive.
Back down on the ground we caught the monorail back to the hotel and grabbed some dinner from a local supermarket before heading back to the room to chill out.
