So, to explain...in the late 60s when new farming laws were introduced an outback farmer (who coincidentally had qualifications in law) took the Australian Government to court and won, meaning that the Hutt River area seceded from the Country and became a Province, exmept from taxation and all other laws. As we were shown around their homestead by Princess Shirley we saw their Government buildings, Post Office, Church and of course Souvernir shop. Now in their mid 80s they are still buzzing about the place and as passionate as they were 40 years ago.
After getting our passports stamped we hopped back on the bus and crossed over the border back into Australia, on the road South again. After a quick stop to re-fuel we contined down the highway until we reached our stop for lunch - Sandy Point, and today complete with boards we sandboarded down the dunes!! There was definitely a knack to this though, as both of us came off on the first go, and unlucky for Ben he also came off on the 2nd and twisted his ankle. So, i don't think we will taking this sport up professionally anytime soon!!
Lunch over and done with we loaded the bus up and began the 4 hour drive back to Perth, arriving back in the City at 6pm. So, after 2000 kilometers and couple of war wounds and a lot of laughs later we sad farewell to our new friends and checked back in to the Perth City YHA.
As we were lucky enough to get on well with Mark the tour guide, he gave us all the left over food, so we have enough to last until we leave Perth, yippee!!
