This morning we had a date with a certain koala named Barney, it was for 8:30am and we were not going to be late for this little fella! Up, washed and dressed we went into the sanctuary (which is part of our hostel) and were greeted with a glass of Champagne…this we thought was going to be a good date!
As we toasted our bread over the open wood fire (bush style) and then tucked into a gourmet bush tucker breakfast complete with lamb loins with outback spices, reef fish with bush tomatoes and much more delicious niceties! All the time we were being visited by the sanctuary wildlife including blue tongued lizards, pythons and the noisy black cockatoo.
The highlight of the morning was our date with Barney, and this time Ben was going to do the holding. All went well, apart from Barney mistaking Ben’s finger for eucalypt leaves!!
The rest of the day was spent chilling out at our bungalow reading, and having dinner at the camp kitchen (minus the possums). Then after chatting to Mum Smith on Skype (it was good to see your face!!), we met the cheeky possums on the way back to our bungalow….this one wanted our camera!
