Today was to be spent at the museum, but no ordinary museum…this was Te Papa, reputed to be the best in the world! With it’s 6 floors and multiple exhibits and displays we had a lot to cram in to such a short time. With our walking shoes on we started on the first floor, with the hundred odd school kids.
Our plan of attack soon changed though and we started on the top floor and worked our way down. Not before visiting the colossal squid though, a fascinating preserved deep sea creature.
On the top floor we visited many different exhibits including ‘Mana Whenua’ – Maori cultures and treasures, including huge mareas.
After lunch we took a walk around the shopping area, to have a break from the museum…not long though and we were back in and working our way through the interactive displays. We even put our smiling faces on the NZ wall, and took a look through the ‘sheep’s eye view’ cam.
Feeling as though we had seen everything we retired for an alcoholic beverage at a local bar. Moving swiftly onto another bar for our first cocktail in we can’t remember how many months!
Yum!!
