Thursday – Christchurch…and then there were three!

A relaxing morning enjoying our last breakfast in the van for awhile, as we will be treating ourselves to the luxuries of hostel and cabin accommodation for the next week.

Before leaving Spencerville we took a wander along the beautiful beach, revelling in the fact that we were the only ones there.

We then popped in to Tim and Emma’s to say goodbye, and then went to stock up on food for our guest, who would be arriving imminently.

We arrived at the airport with plenty of time (when tracking the flight it was running 52 minutes late) and stood in arrivals with our home made sign.

Hopefully Tracy wouldn’t be too disappointed by the greeting, as Nicola stood next to the limousine drivers with their professional printed signs she felt a bit amateur.  Eventually Tracy made it through, after declaring her coffee and chocolate; apparently there were sniffer dogs in customs…personally we think they were trained to sniff out drugs, and not coffee and chocolate!

So, after a 36 hour trip, with 4 legs, and a monsoon (the tropical kind, and not the women's clothes shop kind) she made it to NZ…don’t worry Mummy Smith, she is safe now!!

We drove into Christchurch and checked in to our accommodation for the next 3 nights, a triple room at the….YMCA!

As we walked into reception with that familiar tune playing (Ben had downloaded it onto his phone), we checked in…the journey had finally got to Tracy and she started singing ‘YMCA’ to the receptionist!

Our room is lovely, and overlooking the very scenic Botanic Gardens.

Tonight we are having a lazy night in, so Tracy can catch up on some much needed sleep.
