Monday – Auckland, Tracy’s last day!

As it was Tracy’s last full day with us today we decided to have a lazy morning, an afternoon of souvenir shopping, and catch a movie at the cinema.

A very chilled out and relaxed day, and luckily our first day without rain for over a week!

This evening we decided to celebrate an amazing 3 weeks by splashing out and having an evening out!  With glad rags on we went for a cheeky cocktail at the Minus 5 Bar…which was a cool minus 5 degrees.  We got kitted up in ugg boots, big winter jackets and snow gloves before being led in for the chilled experience.  Everything within the bar is made of ice, from the walls that surrounded us, to the tables and chairs we sat on, and even the glasses we drank from were ice too.  There were some fantastic ice sculptures all around the bar, and after ordering our vodka cocktails we perused them.

Unfortunately as you have gloves on the whole duration of your visit it was impossible to take photos, however we did get the staff to take a picture of us, which will hopefully be on the blog soon.

Next stop was a bar around the corner to make the most of ‘Happy Hour’.

We went for some food at The Fox, an English style cosy pub with an open fire and amazing food!  Having a ridiculous amount of beef…steak for Tracy, and burger for us…yummy!!!

We finished the night in an Irish bar, singing along to the live act…crawling back to the hostel at some ungodly hour of the night.
