As promised here are the best pictures from our caving adventures…enjoy!
Thursday’s trip – Tumu Tumu Tubing!
The ladder into the cave…it was a squeeze but we made it in!
Making it through our first ‘squeeze’ (the technical term for a very small hole)…if you look hard at the cave roof you can see glow worms, obviously it has to be dark to see them in their full glowing glory.
After our adventure in the dark looking at the little fellas we jumped in the rings (tractor inner tube) and floated down an underground stream.
Friday’s trip – The Lost World!
Sitting on the metal bar, perched precariously over the 100 metre drop having our 30 second instruction on abseiling. Nervous smiles from Nicola…Ben is as happy as Larry!
There is only one way to go folks, and that is down!! The only thing stopping us from taking the express route south was that single black rope! If you look directly below where we are hanging you can see the stream below…which when we landed next to it was actually raging.
We even had time (and confidence) to let go of the ropes for a shot together.
The long descent to the cave floor.
Once in, the climb back up through the cave system started.
And a 30 metre ladder climb…which was our least favourite part!
Emerging triumphant at the end of the climb…and still smiling!
