Easy like Tuesday morning....

Today we had decided to have a lazy morning (after yesterdays 4:30am start), and had a leisurely breakfast and got picked up by Pim at midday.

We had left sufficient time to take in the last of the big temples around Angkor and headed first of all to Banteay Kdel - a 12th century monastery that had seen better days.  It was whilst having a wander around here that we noticed that Nicola's Tevas had seen better days - the back strap was hanging on by 2 threads...oh dear!  We then headed over the road to Sra Srang (the pool of ablutions), where in its day was reserved for the use of the King and his Wives!  Whilst sat here enjoying the scenery we had the company of a small local boy selling postcards; a common thing for local children to do, but he was too young to understand what he was saying so we shared our Tom Yung flavour crisps with him.

We met up with Pim and his tuk tuk, which Ben has now nick named 'So 'clock''...do you get it??  and drove to Ta Prohm, the temple complex that has been consumed by the jungle.  After a couple of hours exploring the old temples and huge trees we drove to Pre Rup and climbed to the top to admire the stunning views.  It was lovely to get away from it all; the common sounds around the temples seem to exist of one of the following ''Sir, you want...cold water, cold beer, guide book, bag, scarf, t-shirt, bracelet"...so to be able to escape that was great!

At the end of the day we decided to get Pim to drop us at Angkor Wat to watch the sun set; although it was not half as stunning as watching the sunrise behind it, it still was an amazing thing to behold.

Tuk tuk back to the hotel and then into town for dinner and drinks...and of course the night market, where Ben is tempted by the fake Rolex's...maybe tonight!

In closing we would like to say RIP Nicola's Tevas, which have had a short but fulfilled life, living out many adventures!
