Day 2 in Bangkok and I awoke at 3am with bad jet-lag, luckily Ben slept right through; we had breakfast at the guest house and spent some time sorting bits out on the internet. Before heading out for the day we tried to find out some more information about our lost bags, and lucky for us the staff here at Sam Sen Sam Place are very helpful and helped us call the airport.
To give you a taster of what our little Guest house is like we took this shot to capture the authentic Thai house style....spot Ben!
We headed out along the Chaopraya river, walking along the back streets and small alleys where people carried on with their everyday business. We decided to have a wander around the old town; which took us to the outer walls of the Grand Palace (we couldn't go in as we needed to be appropriately dressed!), the Golden Mount ( a Wat on top of a hill which offered splendid views across old Bangkok), the Democracy Monument and then back to Khao San Road to visit a travel agent to book our next round of internal flights.
We managed to get our flights from Hanoi (Vietnam) to Luang Prabang (Laos) and also booked our flight from Vientiene (Laos) to Bangkok ourselves on the internet at the Guest house. We headed back our to a different area for some more delicious street food and a cheeky beer, before heading back for bed.
Just before we turned in for the night our prayers were answered with a knock on the door from the lady on the front desk, announcing that our luggage had turned up!!! Yippee!!! As you can see we were very happy!
