Electric Circus

After yesterday exploring Old Bangkok, today we headed downtown to the heart of the New City.

A bit of culture first off; after the river express and our first go on the Skytrain we stopped in at Jim Thompson's house - the former home of an American silk entrepeneur which is now a museum.

We then walked to the heart of the shopping district and popped into the MBK mall - first stop was the food court for lunch - Thai Green Curry for Nicola and chicken satay with chilli rice for me. The next floor down was electrical heaven, filled with millions of mobile phone, ipod and camera stalls - we stocked up on memory sticks and batteries for the camera.

We then wandered through a selection of shopping malls in the area, from the busy MBK to the high end Siam Paragon mall filled with shops way out of our price range (  a Lamborghini dealer ? In a shopping mall ??), before catching the Skytrain and express boat back to the guest house.

And you probably guessed it; we're now heading out for more street food !!

  1. Sounds like lots of fun (and lots of food - yum). Joe and Dad are making an igloo in the back at the moment, our weather is still quite different to yours!
Keep the photos going (if you get chance put the cuddly toys on one so I can show the kids).
    Take care

PS How was the hair cut? We want to see the finished product!
