It was a clear crisp morning, with the first ground frost we had experienced since being in New Zealand. The drive out of Havelock through the Rai Valley was beautiful; we took it very slowly as the roads had been gritted and there was still evidence of ice.
Once in Nelson we drove on for a couple of kms out of town to Rabbit Island, a recreation reserve which boasted unspoilt beaches and lush pine forests.
Back in Nelson we checked into the Tahuna Beach campsite and went for a walk along the beach opposite the site, making the most of the sunny day.
This evening we had a night out, visiting the cinema to see Toy Story 3 in 3D…us big kids….never!
