Tuesday - everybody meet the Stranger! Sydney to the Blue Mountains (116kms)

So, this morning we checked out of the lovely Sydney Harbour YHA and caught a cab to the Travellers Autobarn shop.  The time had finally come to pick up the camper van!

After filling in the paperwork we were introduced to our van, called 'The Stranger'; a quick 'how to' lesson on the ins and outs of the van and we were off in to the Sydney traffic.   Ben had volunteered on driving and Nicola was not about to protest, so onto the M4 highway and off towards the open road.

Within 30 minutes we were into the countryside and nearing the Blue Mountains, our first stop was a toan called Glenbrook for an information stop and then we were on our way again heading higher into the hills.

We stopped for lunch at the picturesque Wentworth Falls, were we had sandwiches (made in our lovely fitted kitchen) and walked the trail to the Falls look out.
Back on the road we drove to Katoomba, checked into the Katoomba Falls Caravan park and walked the short distance to Scenic World were we caught the cable car across the valley.  The views were spectacular as the glass floor we stood on offered views all the way down to the valley floor 250 metres below.  Once across we walked to Echo Point to see the 3 Sisters Mountains close up.

Once back across on the cable car we wandered back to the camp ground, jumped in the van and drove into town to stock up on food and booze!  As we shopped away the night drew in and we headed back to the camp ground in the dark, and cooked on our small stove by torchlight.

The first meal we felt needed to be slightly Aussie, so kangaroo kebabs, corn on the cob and a glass of Aussie red.  After a sit admiring the night sky we packed up for the night and made our bed in the van...a slightly sleepless night though as the cool night air kept us awake.
