Thursday - Hunter Valley to Pacific Palms (219kms)

We awoke to the sun rising and got up and had breakfast, a quick wash in the toilet and packed the van up.  We hit the road heading deeper in to wine growing country; first stop Mcguigan Cellars where we sampled the deli (it was too early for wine!).

We drove over the road to Tempus Two Cellars and Nicola sampled the Shiraz - Ben had volunteered to drive for the day.  We then hit the Smelly Cheese Shop, sampling everything that was on offer; blue cheese, olives and brie...which obviously led to a purchase!

Back on the road we drove to Lindemans and Rosemount Estate, where Nicola continued sampling the delicious red wines...not too many glasses though as she was official map reader for the day!

Leaving wine country behind us we joined the New England Highway and after filling up with petrol we joined the Pacific Highway 1 going North!!  We made a lunch stop at a small town called Buladelah, and also called into the information centre where Nicola caused an argument between the two staff members; two older ladies who both thought they knew the best things for us to do!

We left the town with SO much information and a long list of camp grounds on the coast.  We chose to try a town called Pacific Palms, as it apparently had the best beach.  The drive along the 'Lakes Way' was beautiful and on arrival at Pacific Palms Caravan Park we were not disapointed.

For anyone who has watched Home and Away we felt like we had stepped into the set, the owners live in a house on site and are very friendly.  We have a lovely couple on the pitch next to us, and very clean and plentiful shower facilities.  Elizabeth Beach is about 2 minutes walk away, and is stunning.

That evening after a walk on the beach we had a few beers and cooked chilli burgers - watching the wildlife coming out to play around us.  We have a local family of kookaburras and also a possum (which is camera shy).
