Temples and tunnels

After breakfast we were picked up for a day trip into the greater HCMC region - our first stop was the headquarters of the Cao Dai religion, which was founded in 1926 and is now one of the major religions in the south of Vietnam. We stayed to watch some of the twelve o'clock prayers before leaving for lunch at a nearby cafe.

In the afternoon we were driven to the Cu Chi tunnels, part of a 250km network of tunnels used by the Viet Cong in the war. We were shown various ways in which the VC booby trapped the tunnel entrances (most involving long sharp spikes) before being led to a section of the tunnels open to the public - however being slightly larger than the average VC we decided against trying to crawl through.
