Sunday...Little India, Arab street and our Singapore Sling at Raffles!

After a failed attempt at online check in for tomorrows flight we headed out to Little India to take in the sights of this bustling district.  Dotted with temples and mosques the streets were alive with activity; as we passed through the area towards Arab street or Kampong Glam as the locals called it the temperature was getting hotter and hotter.  The highlights were definetely Sri Veeramakaliamman temple (left) in Little India, and Sultan Mosque (right) in Arab street.

We decided to dodge the midday sun by taking a break at the hostel for a couple of hours before donning our gladrags and heading out to Raffles hotel to visit the birthplace of the Singapore Sling - the Long Bar.

As we headed into the bar the sound of broken peanut shells crunch under our feet; we headed deeper into the bar where oriental fans swooshed above our heads.  We decided to take a seat at the bar so we could watch the action unfold, and ordered possibly the most expensive cocktail either of us had ever had!

As our Singapore Sling arrived (pre-mixed, which was a bit of a disapointment-no Tom Cruise-esque shaking going on in this bar!), we toasted to our 2 and a half months spent in Asia, and the days to come when we venture further south to the land down under!!  As you can imagine we tucked into our complimentary peanuts, and joined the rest of the bar in chucking the shells on the floor!

After our drink was well and truly drained we headed down to the gift shop to buy a novelty souvenir!

Tonight, we pack up and get ready for our early start tomorrow; 5:30am and flight at 9am...hello Australia!

The last word of the day goes to all the Mums, especially our own...Happy Mother's Day, we hope you both have a lovely day, miss you!!  Love Ben and Nicola.x
